FEATURED ALBUM FOR JUNE

SUMMERTIME

What better way to celebrate the coming of Summer than with this collection of some of my favorite songs. From Pachelbel's 'Canon In D' to Eric Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight', this CD is filled with the romance of hot summer nights.

SONG SPOTLIGHT

NO FRONTIERS

mp3

I first heard this song from Mary Black. Such a beautiful melody and beautiful sentiment. I fell in love with the song and play it regularly in my live shows.

JUNE HEADLINES:

  • DVD NEARLY COMPLETE!
  • SAN DIEGO PIANO PERFORMANCE
  • SUNSET RESTAURANT THURS-SUNDAY
  • CDs AVAILABLE AT MORRIS GRAVES

In May I was able to settle into some long overdue work on the DVD, 'Live From The Redwoods' . Trips to Patricks Point State Park, Prairie Creek Redwoods , Fern Canyon and Scenic Drive in Trinidad provided the rest of the video I needed and it all came together beautifully. The end result is a series of video (moving) postcards of some scenic wonders playing on the TV or computer screen along with a great sounding solo piano soundtrack. This can be cranked up loud or just serve as audio/visual ambience for your environment. Included are 15 songs--seven originals and 8 covers--including one original I've never released on a CD for an 80 minute running time. I have some work left to do obtaining Synchronization Licenses for the cover tracks before I can produce this art for sale. I have put a sample up here.

Of course, no DVD is complete without bonus features, so I've created a slideshow of some stills from the videos to go along with the credits. This plays over the music 'Benson's Soliloquy', a Scott Joplinesque piece that was released on my Redwood Reflections CD. I'm also working on an Artist Statement that will be included as another bonus feature.

San Diego--June 8th through 13th I'll be making a trip to San Diego for another Music Strategies Conference. While there I will be performing in Trellises Restaurant at the Town & Country Resort on Thursday June 9th. We haven't settled on a time yet--but if you are coming to the conference or just in the area, be sure to plan a dinner at Trellises that night. They have an awesome menu and a great environment for my art.

The Sunset Restaurant continues to be an enjoyable place to play music. I'm getting to know lots of the regulars and with the summer coming on I'm meeting plenty of travelers just enjoying the great food and wonderful atmosphere on their way through. I'll be there every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the exception of the 9th through 12th, when I'm in San Diego.

Another project I pursued successfully in May was gettting the Morris Graves Museum Store to carry my CDs. It turned out to be not too difficult as they already had a copy of Redwood Reflections and The Rose which they play in the Museum frequently.

For those of you who have looked forward to seeing me at the Benbow Inn--it looks as if I will be taking the year off from there in order to work on some other projects and perform in some other markets. I will certainly miss spending time in that beautiful place and hope that I see some of you in Trinidad or San Diego.

I always like to hear from all of you so feel free to drop me a line. My phones and E-mail:
