MP3 Sample--4:47---5Mb

On the heels of my 2002 Stormy Weather release, which was a collection of ballads with a very mellow tone overall, I wanted to do something a little more contemporary and a little more upbeat. I chose songs from some of my early rock influences; Billy Joel, Elton John, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, and of course The Beatles .
With Rock ballads, Latin Rock, and even some straight ahead Rock & Roll, this collection of songs is a lively and interesting departure from my previous work.

1. Margaritaville--Sun and beaches and relaxing good times. I’m always looking to escape to Margaritaville.

2. Something--One of my favorite love songs of all time. I listened to Abbey Road a lot as a teenager and this song has really stuck with me.

3. She’s Always A Woman--I was living on the Olympic Peninsula, Washington Coast, when this song came out. It was quite a few yeears later that I learned to play it.

4. Tears In Heaven--One of the saddest songs in recent rock. I’ve always liked Clapton’s acoustic stuff and this is no exception.

5. Lady Madonna--A lively romp--nothing too deep in this Beatles classic but fun to play.

6. Triste--I really like a lot of Jobim’s songs. They tend to take well to my habit of personalizing arrangements. This one is included here because of the upbeat way I treat it.

7. Just The Way You Are--Again, this Billy Joel tune takes me back to life in a little Washington Coast town called Oyehut. My now adult daughter was just a baby at the time and I was working in the shake mills.

8. This Masquerade--A classic Leon Russell tune. I’ve enjoyed putting my own spin on it.

9. Levon--Piano Rock always seems to lead back to Sir Elton. A wild and lively tune to play.

10. Moondance--Van the Man has always had a great soulful approach to music. This may well be one of his most overplayed songs--but fun to play regardless.

11. She Came In Through The Bathroom Window--Beatles and Joe Cocker combine in my memory in bringing this tune to life.

12. Things We Said Today-- Reaching a little farther back in the Beatles repertoire. This is one that I sing when playing Rock & Roll shows and it lends itself well to the solo piano as well.
