You'll Still Be Running

YOU’LL STILL BE RUNNING--

I’m not altogether sure what this song is about. It’s been hanging around in mmy head for a couple years and I finally completed the writing in September while I was visiting Earthdance. It is somewhat about how life and love seem to be easy for certain charmed individuals while for others it’s like running through an alley being shot at. All that with an awareness that whichever it is for me, it is of my own making.

You'll still be running when the running gets far
You'll still be living when the living gets hard
You'll still be trying when the trying gets tough
How will you ever know when you've tried enough

In the morning will you still feel the same
Will you cry out her name
Or will you wake up to a new and brighter day
And start to live again

You'll still be drinking when the river runs dry
You'll still be sober when everyone's high
You'll always be looking when there's something to see
I guess that's how you wound up seeing me

I'll still be drinking when everyone's dry
I'll still be thirsty when the river runs high
I'll still be looking when there's nothing to see
I'll still be thinking that there's something more for me

In the morning will I still feel the same
Will I ask for her name
Or will I wake up and feel like I'm in my way
And fail to love again

I'll still be running though I'm running too far
I'll still be living though I'm living too hard
I'll still be trying when the trying gets rough
I guess you'll know when I've finally had enough.
